It really is a blessing when the visions you have for your family actually turn out as you expected (or at least very, very close).
Kip started our family night out with one of our favorite passages in the Bible; we listened as Kip read the story of Ruth to us. We had some great conversations and narration about this amazing story. What a perfect passage for our little family right now. Each of us struggle in different ways with our selfishness and as parents we tend to forget that we are just as guilty as are our children.
Although their (H & G’s) acts are very evident and are there for all the world to observe. Ours may be more subtle but they certainly are not any less sinful.
I loved the beauty in this passage how Ruth so faithfully and selflessly chose to stay with Naomi, and how much richer her life was as a result. I pray that we will all continue to hold that in our hearts and remember the many blessings that can come from putting our family, friends, neighbors and enemies above our own desires.

Our family fun did not end with that precious story, we each continued to read on our own (but together) for thirty more minutes. It is so fun to see your kids explore books with their own zeal and imagination. I caught myself a few times being distracted from my own reading as I watched them. This is one of the images that I have always dreamed of, all of us reading on our own, huddled around with blankets and pillows. It was another cherished moment for this mom.
We ended this cold, Wintery, family evening with a wonderful dinner and a movie. Thank you, God!
You guys do such fun and memorable things together!! Wish I could have been a fly on the wall!!! Love you all,NI
How precious. What a great memory builder for all of you. How awesome that your family time was centered around Christ, the Word of God and being together. Not saying that family time watching a movie is the worst thing in the world (Lord certainly knows we do it often) but what a great way to be truly together, enjoying each other and sharing in God’s Word. Again……how precious!
