Real Two’s (Carpool Conversations)

Dad: “How was school, guys?”

H: “Good, we had library today. Our librarian is really nice.”

Dad: “That is great to hear… what else did you learn today?”

C: “We had to learn to make two’s with a tail.”

Dad: “Oh, with the loop in the end instead of the flat line?”

C: “They aren’t real twos?”

Dad: “What do you mean?”

H: “And they’re hard to make!”

C: “Yeah! Really hard!”

C: “A real two you make by making a half C, then a slanted line, then a straight line!”

H: “Yeah… these are different and hard.”

C: “They aren’t real twos.”

H: “Look at that license plate… that is a real two.”

D: “Yeah, I see what you mean.”

C: “A real one… half C, slanted line, flat line. They are hard.”

H: “You have to do almost a real two, but then add a tail curl thing.”

C: “They aren’t real twos.”

H: “That speed limit sign has a real two.”

Dad: “Why do they want you to make fake twos?”

C: “They aren’t real…. a half C, a slanted line, a flat line.”

H: “Oh yeah, Dad. We forgot to turn in my library book.”
