So many wonderful things you can do as a family during this season. I enjoy our family devotions all year long, but Advent is my most favorite. Each year we have done something a little different. This year we took the recommendation of a friend and are reading “Jothams Journey”. Two days in and I am really enjoying it, as are our children.
The evening starts just after dinner; we put on our jammies, bring our pillows and blankets down and plop down on the floor by the Christmas tree. We light our candle, soft Christmas music in the background and hot chocolate. We anticipate what Jotham will face, and what lesson we can learn from it. We get to supplement the story with a scriptural devotion/prayer and we end the evening with a few Christmas Carols. Two days in and I already look forward to that time with my family. So many precious memories are being formed and I am so blessed and grateful to be experiencing the Advent season this way.
I am really trying to eliminate the stresses that this season can bring and just submerge myself into the beauty of it.
I pray that as you read this that your family will also be at peace this season.
Merry Christmas!
