The man that I married still consumes my thoughts. He is such a blessing to me and our children. I hold only the highest regard for him and love him deeply. I am grateful to God for bringing us together. Although our journey of 17 years was not always joyful, it was surely the path that our Heavenly Father had to bring us through to bring us to Him. I am thankful that we made it through all of those not so shiny days and have been strengthened with God’s love, mercy and grace.
I am writing this today, because after 17 years of marriage, I love that I can laugh about the silly things my hubby does. Early in our marriage they would cause me to be disrespectful to Kip, but now, I chose to see it all differently.
God made Kip and I so that we compliment each other, we are not the same in many areas but we have learned to just accept that in each other. What freedom and peace there is in that alone. But then to find laughter and good spirited fun, that is a gift.
What am I talking about exactly? Well, let me share a funny story. My precious husband is very talented. He can do just about anything he sets his mind to. He has made some of our furniture, he creates websites, landscaping, art, home repairs, you name it. This past week, we have taken on a few home improvement projects. Aside from worrying about my hubby electricuting himself while changing out light fixtures all have gone pretty well. However, while changing out an outlet in our guest bathroom and we had to turn the power to that circuit off, for obvious reasons. Well, as the night progressed (and two trips to the hardware store later) the project was put “on hold”. For safety reasons Kip couldn’t turn the circuit back on, due to the exposed wires. So without further consideration we went to bed. In the morning, I woke up in a panic thinking that the freezer was surely on the same circuit. Thankfully it was not. Appropriately enough just a few short minutes after Kip left for work, our home alarm started beeping, ever 60 seconds. After some investigation on my part, determined that the back-up battery was drained and no AC power was getting to it. Ah-ha!
Although better than spoiled food, I had to laugh at the timing.
Gillian asks “momma, are we going to have to listen to this beep ALL day long?”
As soon as my dear, precious and wonderful husband made it to work, we got to share our discovery with him and shared a good laugh. Kip helped me over the phone, to seperate the wires, and turn the circuit breaker back on so we could recharge the alarm and get rid of the beeping. I love you Kip, you bring so much joy into our family.
