…..most of the time!
If you have ever had the misfortune of being scared by someone in our home, we are sorry, really!
Often times we Russell’s gauge our daily success by whether or not we were able to jump out and “get” or “scare” some unsuspecting victim. If we happen to be on the other side of the BOO, we really do try to keep our cool as to not let the others know that we had let our guard down. It has become a fun little game of quid pro quo!
There have been times when the kids will team up with each other or with either Kip or I to add a little twist or throw the other person off the scent of suspicion.
Tonight marks a new era in the ‘game’ of cat and mouse in our house!!
The plan was hatched when our unsuspecting and trusting victim was at school. The youngest member of the family was home ‘sick’, laid up in bed barely able to talk, oh wait no that’s not true, she was up and about, laughing, playing and talking nonstop between mommy and daddy.
Quick Prequel: You see, she was also to be at school, a field trip to Denver to be exact. But she felt like she was getting sick so we kept her home. We built a cool fort that the three of used to hang out in to read and nap. At lunch Mommy and Daddy were eating too slow and the little princess called to us “Mommy, Daddy….I am not getting any older here!” (LOL) “Are you ready to come up yet?” After that sweet little princess beckoned us, some monster called out to us in a scary movie voice, “Mawwwmeee, coomme nowwww!!!” ;-) Laughing and practicing her new found scary movie voice the light bulb went on; the plan was hatched!
Patience and Perseverance.
Never in a million years did Kip or I think that li’l one could pull this off. I mean she spills the beans so often when we have a gift for someone….tee hee. But, she insisted she could and would do it.
While the bedtime routine was under way, li’l one carefully hid in Hayden’s closet. She was in there for at least twenty minutes while Hayden showered and did a few other little things. Then he started to read in bed. Kip and I sat quietly in the hall waiting for G’s plan to move ahead. So much time had passed that we were afraid she might have fallen asleep in the closet!!!!
Finally, Hayden finished reading and turned out his reading lamp. Shortly after that we heard the scary movie voice “GET OUT! GET OUT OF MY HOUSE! THIS IS MY BEDROOM!”
Seriously…..I could barely contain myself, Kip and I were just rolling on the floor laughing! Hayden pops up in bed and looks toward his closet and says “GILL!! go to bed!!!” LOL
Now truly, at this point I do not know if she “got” him and he was just acting cool, like nothing happened or if he truly was a little freaked out. But nonetheless, it was funny and a little unnerving. Now that we know what our li’l peanut is capable of……we are on heightened alert!!!
Visitors BEWARE!!!
TEE HEE
I love it! I can picture the scene thanks to your great description! I can’t believe G was able to be so patient in the closet – and that she didn’t fall asleep! As a visitor who HAS been scared half to death by this game of cat and mouse…. I can say… it gave me a great big laugh and a fun memory!
That was a great description sis!!! Gilli, I am impressed girlie! And as a witness to this “scaring” madness, beware…it can be very heart stopping…
